Prior to picking up a paint brush for the first time, MaryLou spent many years working in the corporate world in both California and Texas. Before returning to her native California in 2007, she and her husband spent 16 years living in Dallas where she first enrolled in an oil painting class at Mountain View Community College. She continued taking art classes at Southern Methodist University at both their Dallas, TX and Taos, NM campuses. She also spent two weeks studying traditional Impressionist painting techniques on Lake Como, Italy under the direction of Jerry Fresia. MaryLou has also taken workshops with Suzanne Kelly Clark, Teresa Onoda and Timothy Horn.
MaryLou and her husband moved to Wickenburg, AZ in 2019 and are discovering the beauty of the desert. It's providing lots of inspiration for her new paintings.
